From Fabric Cutting to Packing: How We Make a Batch of Modal Pajamas

Share:

Sourcing the Right Modal Fabric

Every batch starts with fabric. For this order of 2,000 modal pajama sets destined for a European brand, we sourced OEKO-TEX certified modal from our long-term supplier. Modal is prized for its softness, breathability, and drape — ideal for sleepwear. Before any cutting begins, our fabric inspection team checks the full roll for shade consistency, weaving defects, and shrinkage rate using a standardized 4-point system.

Precision Cutting with Automated Layering

Once the fabric passes inspection, it moves to the cutting room. We use an automated spreading machine to lay up to 40 plies at a time, followed by computer-guided cutting. For modal, we maintain a slightly slower cutting speed to prevent edge fraying — a small detail that makes a big difference in the finished garment.

Sewing: Six Quality Checkpoints

The cut panels travel to our sewing lines, where each seamstress specializes in one operation — side seams, sleeves, collars, hems. At six stations along the line, inline QC checks every seam for tension, stitch count, and alignment. For this sleepwear order, flatlock seams were specified to sit smoothly against the skin — zero irritation, zero puckering.

Final Inspection & Packing

After sewing, each pajama set goes through a 3-stage final QC: visual inspection under calibrated lighting, measurement verification against the tech pack, and a random AQL 2.5 sampling. Only then do garments move to the packing station, where they're folded, tagged, poly-bagged, and boxed according to the client's retail-ready packaging spec.

Total lead time from fabric arrival to shipment: 22 days. The client received their order ahead of schedule, and the feedback on quality was outstanding. This is what we do every day — turning raw fabric into finished products that brands are proud to sell.
